Martial art training combine with flexibility stretching exercise can minimize risk to injury and reduce muscle soreness.

Martial art training combine with flexibility stretching exercises can help to improve cardiovascular health and lead to increased levels of strength and flexibility. Martial art training will twist, flex, extend and elongate every part of your body while flexibility stretching will stretch the range of motion or distance a joint can move.

This type of rigorous exercise in martial art training which are usually practice in martial art school, not only help you to see your toes, but perhaps feel them as well. It is a perfect prescription to treating an exhausted mind and spirit.

Flexibility stretching

The following nine tips that can help improve flexibility:

  1. Stretch before and after martial art class. After class, when muscles are warm and joints are adequately prepared, it is the best time to increase flexibility while pre-class stretching can help avoid injuries.

  2. Holding a stretch for 20 seconds maybe adequate for a warm-up before any martial art training, however to improve flexibility, each position should be maintained for at least 60 seconds.

  3. Avoid bouncing or forcing into a stretch, both of which can lead to serious injury.

  4. Tiny increments are safer than gains-by-the-yard. Work slowly to achieve small and gradual improvements in your flexibility.

  5. Breathe naturally and holding your breath will maintain your mind-muscles connection during martial art training.

  6. Ensure to stretch all muscle groups equally.

  7. Maintain proper form and perform each stretch correctly.

  8. At times, your body may feel fatigue and you may want to limit your range of motion.

  9. Stretch regularly in order to ensure to maintain or increase flexibility.

In martial art training, you work to your own ability rather than that of others. So never force yourself to do a stretch or attempt to over extend yourself.
