While infants under 12 months old may only have a few teeth, experts say they should been seen by a dentist within the first year of life. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s revised guidelines on infant oral health recommend infants 6 to 12 months old should to be seen by a dentist. More than 40 percent of children have tooth decay by the time they reach kindergarten. In order to help prevent tooth decay, dental experts at Nationwide Children’s Hospital are reminding parents to schedule dental appointments for their toddlers. Studies have shown that if children experience tooth decay in their baby teeth, they are more likely to develop tooth decay in their permanent teeth. Read more…

Music is a powerful instrument. It wields power that no government or aristocracy can compete with. And no, were not talking about Justin Bieber here although my initial reluctance to consider Lady Gaga to be an artist worth listening to changed when I learned that she derived the Ga Ga part from Queens All We Need is Radio GaGa.

Enough of the theatrics, woman, is all I have to say but thats probably how the commercialization of music makes demands on popular artists anyways.

I was the executive editor at Honey when I got the call from a colleague: Parenting magazine was looking for an editor and if I was interested in the position, he’d put in a word for me. I enjoyed editing profiles and fashion stories about Mary J. Blige, Nia Long and Beyonce at Honey, a now-defunct entertainment magazine for young women of color, but I was also a young mom of two little girlpies, and the idea of working at a magazine that celebrated babies and mothers—and respected working moms by letting them actually see their kids at night—was intriguing. I bit

I had a question in one of my recent blog posts about how I live the life that I do the question wasnt really about how I can afford it, it was more to do with how I have enough confidence to take the plunge. I honestly had a big fear in my twenties of traveling by myself and never thought I would do it. But all of a sudden not long after my 30th birthday, something in me just changed and it was as though I HAD to travel alone so that is when the real adventures begun.

It looks like bone. It feels like bone. For the most part, it acts like bone. And it came off an inkjet printer. Washington State University researchers have used a 3D printer to create a bone-like material and structure that can be used in orthopedic procedures, dental work, and to deliver medicine for treating osteoporosis. Paired with actual bone, it acts as a scaffold for new bone to grow on and ultimately dissolves with no apparent ill effects. The authors report on successful in vitro tests in the journal Dental Materials and say they’re already seeing promising results with in vivo tests on rats and rabbits. Read more…

People in India, right from my parents generation to mine, have given up on politics. Its downright disgusting, to say the least. Almost every other day there is something on television that either makes you laugh, upset you or even just cause you to believe that Indian politics has reached the point of no return.

So, to satiate my need to look away from such stupidity, Obama seemed to be the best candidate to follow for sometime now. And considering the divided opinion of the people of the United States off late, it seems wise to not think of him at all

This was until Anna Hazare, a Indo-Pak war veteran, arrived on the scene especially in regards to the 2011 anti-corruption movement.

Kalorama Information estimates that digital x-ray system sales will exceed those of traditional x-ray systems used for a medical (non-dental) purpose in 2011. Kalorama notes in its new report: “Medical Imaging Markets: X-Ray, Digital X-Ray, CT and Other Radiography Systems,” that digital x-ray will exhibit the highest growth in the radiography market which includes mammography, fluoroscopy, dental imaging, computed tomography, and analog x-ray systems.
